Challenge #162 - Dont Be Such a Beach!

Deena Here:  This weeks challenge is called

Don't be such a Beach

and the idea is to use up your beach-y looking supplies...beach stamps, sand, shell fish, what ever you have going on to look hot and summery...I used the beach babes, because if they aren't summery, nothing is...however when I woke up today it was only +8 celcius outside, so there will be no beach around here today...but the warmth is supposed to return this week, so we can only hope...

Electra here.  I created a card and an ATC for a friend in North Carolina.  Do they have beaches in North Carolina?  I don't honestly know.
But I hope she likes them.
I grew up on an island, so I like beaches.  No, actually, I love them!

Rosemary here and I made ATCs as well.  I used sand patterned paper and laid out a paper blanket, a cool drink, put my sunglasses nearby and ditched the flip flops.  All the elements (glasses, flip flops, and drink) are from inchie stamps that I colored, the drink and sunglasses got a bit of dimensional glossy adhesive treatment.  (and really, isn't everything just a little better when you're at the beach?)

Jana here: I live in Virginia Beach. Yup only 10 minutes from the Atlantic, 5 if the lights are green. So the beach means MANY, MANY things to me. For this challenge I made this mini quilt.

It's about 9 inches wide and 12 inches tall. Those are real shells. The seaweed is some fiber I had in my scrapping stash. The pink starfish are beaded. They are super easy and come together super fast. It was a fun one to make. But, shhhh. It's a secret. The recipient hasn't gotten it yet, but I don't think she comes here. Ever. One day a mermaid will be on the beach. Just you wait and see.

You have until the end of Saturday 10 August to join in with your fabulous creation. Add your blog post address to Mr Linky below.

Challenge #161 - WEDDINGS!!!

For our challenge this time we are asking you to celebrate

WEDDINGS

Our dear Poobah Electra has a wedding at the end of July -
her darling daughter's and so we're celebrating too!
So create with the theme of weddings
and then share your project with us!

Deena here:  So excited that Electra's daughter is getting married ...and this challenge also worked out perfect for my husband's brother's wedding last weekend....I needed a card for this occasion and I thought this one turned out perfect for them....they had a little backyard wedding here last weekend, but are having a big celebration with her family in Morrocco in October...

Electra here.  Yes, it's true, my baby girl is getting married!  And I get to be the mother of the bride.
Hah!  I even bought a dress. And shoes.  And new underwear.  :-)

Since the big day is yet to come, I've chosen to scrapbook a couple of the daughter and her fiance's engagement photos.  I know, not particularly wedding-y, but appropriate, nonetheless.

Jana here. Congratulations to Electra and her daughter. Many happy years to them all.
The last wedding I went to was last summer. My adorable nephew got married. For this challenge, I made the happy newlyweds a pillow to match the quilt I made them for their wedding.

and here's the quilt:

Rosemary here and I love weddings, it is a joy to see young ones (and older ones too) embarking on a great adventure.  I'm so happy for Electra's daughter and wish her a lifetime of love and happiness, as well as the determination to get through the challenges of marriage - it isn't all .   I made table tents for her reception, using my Cricut, cardstock, and stamps!  (and of course, the feather sparkles - have to have that bling)

I also used the colors (a shimmery peacock blue) as the accent for the set of thank you cards I made for her.
